TORS OF THE WEST
Formed some 300 million years ago and moulded by the ice age, these distinctive granite rock formations known locally as “Tors” help create the remote windswept magical beauty of Dartmoor in the South West of England. Complemented with ancient forests, wild open desolate moorlands and meandering streams these magnificent rocks with their varied geometric shapes act as the focal points for a uniquely evocative and moody environment. Having spent time exploring these moors in my youth, I increasingly keep being drawn back to their rugged tranquility, offering new perspectives and dramatic mood changes with the constantly fluctuating conditions.
